SESSION 5: TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY: FINANCING AND POLICY FRAMEWORKS FOR REN GROWTH

Funding in research and education has become more challenging for REN institutions in Nigeria. Discussions about the platforms and infrastructure to enable a sustained future for digital operations in Nigeria are required. In this session, we will examine what the community can do to adopt policies and frameworks deliver and utilise open infrastructure and platforms and make them sustainable.

The session will invite funders like TETFund to provide their perspectives on funding tertiary education in the rapidly developing digital landscape while also examining Open Science, Open Access and Digital Transformation policies for all stakeholders within the REN community. A national plan for REN growth sustainability will be considered based on the policies.

OBJECTIVES: Outline policies and frameworks that can contribute to the sustainability of digital infrastructure use by the Nigerian REN

EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
A Paper with recommendations for TETFund and tertiary institutions and other stakeholders on funding requirements that will facilitate the implementation of policies and frameworks defined in the session
