Prof. Conrad Omonhinmin
Professor Conrad Asotie Omonhinmin is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Plant Biotechnology, serving as the UNESCO Chair for Biotechnology at Covenant University. His expertise extends to biostatistics, with a focus on statistical reasoning and Big Data applications in Molecular Biology. He has a particular research interest in under-exploited African species, biodiversity conservation, and molecular systematics, with over 120 high-impact publications to his credit.
Professor Omonhinmin is a passionate advocate for Open Science and Open Access, contributing actively to Artificial Intelligence policy development for advancing African scientific contributions. He serves as the National Contact Person for OA2020 and the Coordinator for Open Access and Science initiatives at Covenant University. Additionally, he is an Environmental Impact Assessor and a member of the National Research and Development Standing Committee of TETFund.
In addition to his academic endeavors, Professor Omonhinmin is a seasoned counselor, life coach, and management consultant specializing in strategic capacity development in higher education. Previously, he also served as the Dean of Students at Covenant University and Director for Research, Innovation, and Discovery at Covenant University (CUCRID), and is currently the Head of the Biotechnology Research Cluster/Centre and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
